It’s having craze among the players which are from every corner of the world. Number of online gambling websites is increasing geometrically, so as the revenue is increasing, according to sources, it was around 6 billion $ in year 2003 and is estimated to be almost triple by year 2009. Now the burning question, is it possible to ban online gambling? There have discussions and disputes from ancient times about legal issues of gambling and local government had the authority to ban this thrilling game from their land. But now time and circumstances have changed. It is age of online gambling and it does not require establishing a land based casino. You can start a casino in Jamaica or Barbados or anywhere and attract the players and money from everywhere. Governments can’t ban online gambling sites which are based outside their jurisdictions. They may ban the banks and other finance related institutions which are involved in payments and fund transfers for online gambling sites and players. Actually the same was done by US legislative. To discourage Americans from online gambling, House of Representatives banned various payments related to gambling in July 2006. But the ban was declared hypocrisy by the opposition and they argued that it was not going to do the trick. Finally, the game is on and number of players and online gambling sites is increasing. Government and regulatory bodies are trying hard to bring everything under strict regulations but still a lot has to be done because seeing the latest trend in casino history it seems that it is almost impossible to ban it. So, rather than imposing a ban on online casinos, governments should look to regulate various aspects of online gambling.
